iGENEA has specialized in the genetic origins of Europeans and can now genetically define numerous historical indigenous peoples. By indigenous peoples, we refer here to people groups from Antiquity who are defined not only by their own language, culture and history but also by their own DNA-profile. What is important is not the common linguistic ancestry or the historical-anthropological categorization, but the individual genetic characteristics of a people.

Short chronology of the Croatian aggression on Bosnia and the Bosniak people

19. October 1990. The presidency of the Socialist Republic Bosnia and Herzegovina according to the order of the Headquarters of armed forces of Socialist Federal Republic Yugoslavia draws a decision to withdraw all of the weapons and the military equipment in possession of Territorial defense in to the Yugoslav Peoples Army military depot. This decision was not obeyed by 23 municipalities with Bosnian Croat majority population and 17 municipalities with Bosnian Serb majority population.
